WE HAVE THE SOLUTION FOR YOU

WELCOME TO
VEHICLE DRIVEABILITY SOLUTIONS

Vehicle Driveability Solutions is a Whyalla based automotive diagnostic and 12 v accessory fitting Service. Diagnosis of vehicle electrical-based complaints.

Our goal is to quickly and cost-effectively remedy all types of auto electrical faults. Like a doctor seeing a patient, we firmly believe that a proper diagnosis is the critical first step to fixing any existing problem.

The traditional “guess and replace parts until it’s fixed” approach, based solely on symptoms or trouble codes, has a limited success rate and can be prohibitively expensive for today’s modern computerised vehicles. After several attempted fixes and comebacks, the original problem still remains. The vehicle owner is frustrated after wasting time and money, and often the vehicle is still not fixed!

We see the process as a separate diagnosis, followed by a repair. As our business name implies, our focus is on the diagnosis itself, and then provide a recommendation for repair to be completed by a third party.

At the end of the day, when the problem is efficiently diagnosed and repaired correctly the first time around with no guesswork, the customer is happy. The time and money spent on a professional diagnosis is a fantastic investment and pays for itself immediately in avoiding unnecessary labour and replacement of parts. Also, the customer will have confidence in the repair further down the road, as my thorough diagnosis addresses the underlying problem, not just the symptoms.

A 2004 BA Falcon ute came to the workshop with customer complaint of idling faster than usual and occassionally running rough or spluttering at idle.
Vehicle was scanned for codes with a P0171 present amongst others which were tested and proven to be not contributing to the current fault.
Data was collected and RPM at idle was 150 to 200RPM higher than what the ECU was requesting. Map sensor value was also higher than manufacturer spec indicating either a faulty sensor or a vacuum leak. After testing the MAP sensor, a thorough visual inspection of the engine bay was performed with nothing found. A smoke test on the inlet system revealed a leaking inlet manifold gasket.
By collecting data and following a proper diagnostic procedure, VDS were able to quickly identify the root cause of this fault rather than chasing ghosts and throwing parts at a problem in an effort to fix it.

TK Barina with Central locking/Alarm issue.
No Codes.
Alarm going off when entering vehicle.
Remote central locking not functioning.
Found all door locks actuating apart from the Drivers door.
Liklihood of actuator failure is high. Wanting to repair the cutomers car as quickly and cheaply as possible an aftermarket actuator was purchased as replacement with customer agreeing to further diagnosis if required.
And as usual when a proper diagnosis is not carried out the replacement door actuator did not function.
Some basic checks confirmed no power to actuator.
There is however power at the output of the door lock module and all the way to the door frame.
Loom removed from door and load tested.
Break found in loom close to door main connector. 3 wires discovered broken. 1 to actuator motor and 2 for the lock postition switch.
Wires repaired. Actuator now works.
This is a classic example of why parts are not shotgunned at a vehicle. No matter how simple a repair may seem a proper diagnosis should be performed before any repairs attempted. It will save you (the customer) money in the long run.
